Childerley , with its famous gardens and its superb facilities, offers a unique and flexible setting for weddings and receptions , parties and concerts, conferences and product launches. We have even had a circus in town!
Located just 6 miles west of Cambridge, the journey begins along the 1.5 mile drive culminating in a breathtaking view of the Hall, the Chapel and the Victorian barns. Ample parking is available and nearby Cambourne offers excellent hotel accomodation and many local B&B's offer a friendly family welcome.
Childerley is unique, providing perhaps the only true 'blank canvas' for bespoke events in the area. The versatility and freedom of the venue is exceptional, giving clients ample time and opportunity to decorate the Long Barn as they wish.
The Long Barn can accommodate any number up to 500 seated for dinner; the Chapel can provide an intimate occasion for up to 80; the Gardens offer a majestic lawn for receptions and a magical backdrop for photographs.
Small dinner parties of up to 24 can also be held in the Chapel throughout the year.
Wedding and Civil Wedding Partnership Ceremonies can be held in the Long Bar or in the Courtyard Loggia.

Making the most of your Event
Whether a wedding or party, you having fun is our business. Childerley is usually a summer venue, open from mid-April to September. Creativitiy is positively encouraged at every level from decoration to menus, from lighting to entertainment. We believe in "the journey" from the point of turning into the long drive that meanders through the arable farm, woods and orchards, we want your guests to enjoy a journey through different Childerley locations culminating in the warmth of the timber-framed Long Barn.
The Long Barn
The Long Barn is possibly the longest timber-framed barn of its type in East Anglia and possibly beyond. Built of oak in the mid 19th century, it stretches 111 yards top to tail! Clever screening allows the Long Barn to be divided to give just the ideal amount of space required for each event. Fairy lights and lanterns set a magical scene, allowing you to add and enhance as you wish but often less is more. It can accomodate from up to 500 seated for dinner. It has ample power supple, moveable staging and bar area and is available until midnight (late licenses can be applied for at an additional cost).
The Courtyard
The adjacent Courtyard provides an outside setting with grass and covered loggias with seating, lighting and troughs of seasonal flowers. Ideal for pre-dinner receptions or outside entertainment.
The Gardens
The romantic gardens of Childerley have a reputation second to none. Known for its outstanding collection of old fashioned roses, an herbaceous border of riotous colour and large expertly maintained lawn. It invites your guests to explore its many paths leading to water features, sculptures, a Tudor Chapel, intimate summer house, croquet lawn and a magnificent lake. The gardens are a superb location for blessings and wedding ceremonies (non-legal) and it is a beautiful setting for afternoon tea and cake or champagne and canapes offering seating in both sunshine and shade. It provides a multitude of exceptional photo opportunities for wedding photographs.

Wet weather arrangements
Should the rain fall, the exceptionally long Long Barn provides the ideal wet weather alternative venue.
Pricing
Experience has shown us that every event is different, so we tailor each quote to the individuals needs. You will be charged a venue fee which gives you exclusive use of the facilities both on the day itself and the day before for setup. Food, wine and any extras over and above the general venue fee will be charged additionally. However as a guide we hope the following information will be helpful:-
Our minimum price for hire of the Long Barn and Courtyard is £3600 plus VAT for up 120 guests - this fee includes the cost of hiring tables, chairs, house lights, basic staging, a moveable bar, heating and WC's. The Courtyard is a splendid location for a drinks reception but if you wish to use the gardens instead there is an additional charge of £960 plus VAT for hire from 2pm to 6pm. This includes access to the Chapel for you and your guests to browse around.
Please note that we can be flexible with timings but there is usually an additional charge of £200 plus VAT per extra hour (12 noon is usually the earliest and 1am the latest).
The events team
The event team between them have many years experience of event organisation, and have excellent contacts for equipment hire, musicians, florists, photographers, etc. The on-site building team is able to offer its services to help with build-up requirements. Experience has shown us that every event is different, so we tailor each quote to the individuals needs. Our professional and experienced staff ensure that your event runs smoothly, enabling you to enjoy the day as much as your guests without a worry to the detail

Catering
The superb Movable Feast are our catering partners and can provide menus for every occasion to suit individual budgets. Local and seasonal produce is selected wherever possible.
Childerley has carefully selected wines, specifically chosen to complement our menus, and if you are looking for something a little different, we would be delighted to make recommendations to you. Corkage is charged for those wanting to supply their own drinks.
